Who we are
GuildGauge ("we", "us") operates https://guildgauge.com, a directory that helps you compare local tradespeople and request quotes. You can contact us about privacy matters at leedawsontechnical@gmail.com.
What we collect
If you request a quote: your name, email address, optional phone number, and the job description you provide. If you register an account (used by businesses claiming a listing): your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text). Business listing details shown on the site (ratings, addresses, phone numbers) come from Google Places, not from you. Providing your name and email is required to submit a quote request or register an account — without them, we can't process your request.
How we use your email specifically
For homeowners: your email is used only to contact you about the quote request you submitted, and to send a one-time confirmation link to verify it's really you. For businesses: your email is used only for quote requests routed to your claimed listing and for GuildGauge account-related communications. In both cases, your email is never shared with third parties and never used for any other purpose, including marketing from us or anyone else.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of your consent — given via the checkbox when you submit a quote request or register an account — and, where you hold an account, because processing is necessary to provide the service you've signed up for. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at leedawsontechnical@gmail.com. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything already done before you withdrew it, and doesn't retract a quote request already shared with businesses.
Who your quote request is shared with
When you submit a quote request, your name, contact details, and job description are shared with up to 4 matched local businesses so they can respond to you directly. It is not shared with any other business, and not sold or passed to any third party.
Third-party service providers
We use Resend (operated by Plus Five Five, Inc.), a US-based email delivery provider, to send account and quote-request verification emails — this means your email address is processed in the United States as well as the UK, under Resend's own data protection terms. We use Google Places to source the business listing data shown on the site; this doesn't involve sending your personal data to Google.
Cookies
We use a single strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you logged in after you sign in. We don't use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies, so no cookie consent banner is required.
How long we keep data
We keep quote request data for up to 24 months from submission, then delete it. Account data is kept for as long as your account stays active, and for up to 12 months after you close it in case of a dispute. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, restrict or object to our processing of it, and receive a copy in a portable format. Contact us at leedawsontechnical@gmail.com to exercise any of these. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've mishandled your data.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update this page and change the effective date.
